A teenager was arrested Tuesday afternoon for attempted homicide after he allegedly slashed the neck of a high school classmate in Fremont, authorities said in a release on Wednesday.
Police received a call at 12:50 p.m. from a 15-year-old male Kennedy High School student saying he had been cut in the neck across the street from the school. He added that the suspect was still in the area.
School resource officers on campus rushed to the scene and attended to the victim within 46 seconds of the call. They then initiated a search for the suspect, a 16-year-old male student.
The school was placed under a shelter-in-place after the suspect was seen heading towards its direction.
Authorities used surveillance footage to identify the suspect and apprehend him.
Another 17-year-old boy who attends a high school in a "neighboring" city was also booked for accessory and brandishing a weapon.
The victim has been released from the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
