Two arrested in Fremont for allegedly skimming $20K from Bank of America

Authorities arrested two people in Fremont on Thursday in connection with multiple incidents of ATM skimming.

On Aug. 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Fremont police executed a search warrant on Goldenrain Ave. where they collected numerous gift cards and over $20,000 in cash.

Daniel Mot, 41, and Marian Radu, 46, were arrested for multiple felonies.

The pair had been allegedly rigging Bank of America ATM machines with devices used to collect cash from unsuspecting customers, officials reported. A crime known as "skimming."

Skimming gadgets are disguised to look like part of an ATM machine. They will often collect bank information from a debit card when the card is used to withdraw cash.
