A girl died after being thrown from her bicycle in South San Jose on Saturday.
While riding a bike downhill on Valroy Dr. in La Colina neighborhood, the girl lost control and hit a raised curb, San Jose police reported.
She was launched into the air and hit a concrete retaining wall with such force that she sustained life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders transported the girl to a local hospital, but she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
