Oakland's The Golden Bull reopened Tuesday for the first time since March of 2020, and patrons were welcomed back with a surprise gig from Green Day side project The Coverups.
The band played to celebrate bar owner Bill Schneider's 50th birthday. The set of covers featured Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day drummer Tre Cool for at least a handful of songs.
The bar called it the "best Thursday" in more than a year and hinted that Friday could be the "best Friday" ever, so read that how you see fit.
Green Day will kickoff the long-awaited Hella Mega Tour in July with a date August 27th at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
