SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Vice President Kamala Harris landed in San Francisco Friday night ahead of a fundraising event in the city Saturday.

The San Francisco fundraiser, dubbed 'An Afternoon with Vice President Kamala Harris', is supposedly taking place at an undisclosed location. But judging from a number of barriers that went up in front of the Fairmont Hotel, most political experts say it's happening there.

“Big fundraiser. She's going to bring in hundreds of 1000s, if not millions, of dollars,“ KCBS political reporter Doug Sovern explained.

The vice president arrived in the Bay Area after a stop in Arizona where she met with border patrol officers.

Her time in the city will most likely be away from the cameras.

“They don't really want video of her asking for money, raising money, sometimes letting her hair down a little bit in front of sympathetic audiences, more than she would out on the stump,” Sovern explained.

He noted California is always good for filling up campaign coffers.

The Trump campaign understands that fact, too.

Harris's opponent Donald Trump was just here a few weeks ago, and much like the former president, Sovern said the Harris team isn't concerned about drumming up votes.

“[California] is her base,” he explained. “She's going to win this state by more than 30 points.”

The vice president is spending less than 24 hours in the Bay Area after her afternoon fundraiser in San Francisco, she's off to Los Angeles for an evening event there.
