SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Vice President Kamala Harris made a fundraising trip to San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts Saturday in what may be her last trip to the Bay Area before the November election.
The Harris campaign stands the chance of raising millions of dollars from this one event here.
Basic tickets started at $500. But a VIP pass, which meant shorter lines and a handshake with the vice president, stretched well into the thousands.
Supporters on their way in said it was worth every penny.
“You’re seeing it on our home turf and it’s the last time she’s coming here,” an attendee told KCBS Radio.
“She has a vision for the country and I think she is exactly what we need right now,” another person outside the event said.
Security around the Palace of Fine Arts went up hours before the start of the event and only verified ticket holders were allowed inside the perimeter or in the hall.
But some passing by decided to wait, holding out hope for a glimpse of the guest of honor
“Hanging out here, hope to see her,” one such person explained. “See if she’ll stop by. Maybe?”
In the end, she didn’t. Harris departed for SFO shortly after wrapping up her speech here. According to her schedule, she had another fundraiser later in the day in Los Angeles.
With only weeks to go ahead of the election, both candidates – Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump – made it a point to stop in San Francisco.
The Bay Area and the entire state of California are fundraising gold for the candidates, but for those who attended the Harris fundraising event, San Francisco belongs to the vice president.
