Hayward police seek public's help to find missing 'at-risk' 8-year-old

The Hayward Police Department is asking for the public's help to find an at-risk 8-year-old who has been reported missing.

Sophia Mason was reported missing to authorities on Tuesday. She may be in the care of a parent or guardian, but family members have not had contact with them since December, police said in a press release.

Mason is known to stay in different locations between Hayward and Southern California.

It is unknown when she was last seen or what she may be wearing. Mason was deemed "at-risk" by the department. No further details were released.

Anyone with information about the child's whereabouts is asked to contact 510-293-7000 so police can conduct a welfare check.
