An unresponsive man pulled to safety from his burning vehicle by a quick-thinking Piedmont officer could face alcohol impairment charges, police said on Wednesday.
Piedmont Police described the incident in a detailed Facebook post, sharing stunning body cam screenshots of the heroic rescue, which took place at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
The man’s dog was also saved from the burning car, police added.
Police said Piedmont units were in the area and responded to the call at Park Blvd. and Estates Dr. in Oakland. When the responding Piedmont officer unsuccessfully tried to put the fire out, he pulled the man and his dog out as flames engulfed the front half of the vehicle.

It wasn’t immediately clear what the vehicle hit in the single-car accident but "alcohol impairment may be a suspected factor in this collision," the post said.
Oakland Police have taken over the investigation.
