Oakland residents are rattled following a home invasion on Thursday.
Just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 7, a man climbed through an unlocked window of a home on Loma Vista Ave. in the Redwood Heights neighborhood, sexually assaulting one of the residents.
"It's definitely scary, and I feel for the people who that happened to," a concerned neighbor said to KTVU. "It will certainly make me double-check the locks on my doors and windows."
Despite confronting two residents of the house, the man escaped without being identified, spiking anxieties throughout the neighborhood.
"We've had some home invasions in our neighborhood on 39th, but usually during the day when people aren't home, not when people are actually sleeping in beds," a second neighbor said to the station.
The assailant is described as a thin man in his 20s, around 5’10” tall, who was wearing a black mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Police believe the incident to be a random act of violence.
