Police arrest suspect involved in hostage situation at East San Jose house

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies have arrested the suspect involved in an hours-long hostage situation that started late Monday night and ended Tuesday afternoon in East San Jose.

Officials were first alerted at 11:15 p.m. Monday of a hostage situation at a home at the 300 block of East Hills Dr. in the city's Alum Rock neighborhood. A sheriff's spokesperson told KTVU at 7 a.m. that hostage negotiators were working to "peacefully deescalate the situation."

The sheriff's office announced at 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday that the suspect was taken into custody. Nobody was injured from the incident.
