11-year-old arrested for starting vegetation fire with fireworks in Pacifica

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Pacifica police arrested an 11-year-old boy for using fireworks that started a vegetation fire on Wednesday.

Police and the North County Fire Authority responded to a vegetation fire at the 600 block of Roberts Road around 4:56 p.m., police said. The boy called the police telling them that he was using fireworks and sparked a fire, authorities reported.

Officers arrested the child for Unlawfully Causing a Fire, a misdemeanor and he was later released to his parents.

Fire crews we able to contain the three-acre fire.

A part of Roberts Road was closed for about two hours while fire crews were putting out the fire. No evacuations were necessary.

The fire is being investigated by the Pacifica police and the North County Fire Authority.
