A kitten that was rescued from a towering ledge on a freeway overpass near San Francisco International Airport earlier this month is now available for adoption.

On June 10, the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA received a report of a stranded kitten at the concrete base of a freeway sign. In a statement made to KNTV, the PHS/SPCA recalled how the kitten was "trapped on a ledge at least 50 feet above the ground" and "was crying out for help."

To save the kitten, a humane society employee braced himself against a freeway barrier, using a net to scoop her up from her perilous position.

After a quick examination, the kitten was deemed healthy by PHS/SPCA officials. They gave her the necessary vaccinations and fondly named her Gwyneth.

With no owners coming forward to claim her, Gwyneth is now up for adoption. She is three months old and has been spayed and microchipped, officials reported. Her adoption fee is set at $120.

Anyone interested in adopting Gwyneth should call 650-340-7022.
