A federal lawsuit was filed Tuesday against the Town of Danville in connection with the police killing of a homeless Black man last month.
Disturbing video filmed in Danville by the driver of a car stopped just yards away at Sycamore Valley Rd. and Camino Ramon showed 32-year-old Tyrell Wilson collapse to the ground after he was shot by Officer Andrew Hall on March 11. At the time, police said Wilson made a move in Hall's direction.

Civil Rights Attorney John Burris announced the lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming Wilson made no threatening movements toward the officer before he was shot. "Even though he had his issues, he was respectful of law enforcement," said Burris. "Therefore, for him to be suggested that he was attacking an officer is a defamatory statement about his name."
Wilson was homeless and had mental issues.
Police said Wilson had a knife in his hand and was ordered to drop it several times, but did not. Wilson was shot once and later died at a local hospital.
The victim’s father, Marvin Wilson, said on Tuesday that Hall should be fired.

"He needs to be taken off the street because it will happen again," Wilson said. Hall was placed on administrative leave after the shooting and has reportedly requested a new assignment outside of Danville, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
A spokesperson for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the case, said they have no response at this time.
