FOODIE FRIDAY: POPI’s OYSTERETTE SF
Popi’s is more than an oyster bar but if you love them this IS the spot for you on Chestnut street, San Francisco. Think of Popi’s Oysterette as perhaps Swan’s (Polk) or Anchor Oyster (Castro) for the Marina. Come solo and saddle up to the counter, meet new friends as the chefs shuck & serve. Alternatively bring a small group and snag a table inside or out and watch the eye-popping people parade. Happy Hour is a great time to go for bangin’ payers & wine specials. It’s dungeness crab season too so expect a few seafood specials on the menu. During a recent dinner at Popi’s, an inviting and intimate space, I was royally spoiled by Chef Melissa Perfit & her attentive team. Yummy highlights included:

- Oysters baked & raw
- Old Bay popcorn shrimp
- Marinated salt spring mussels
- Crab Louie salad
- Gumbo with andouille sausage

Washed down dinner with some local suds, a Marina blond. It hit the spot. Can’t wait to return for the Mikey approved chowder and the Popi’s platter with a little bit of everything. Thanks Chef Melissa - you are top off the pops! Popi’s Oysterette is open daily from 11:30 A.M. - 9 P.M. with Happy Hour running Monday - Friday 3 P.M. - 5 P.M.

FOODIE INTERVIEW: CHEF MELISSA PERFIT
Meet Chef Melissa Perfit, a seasoned Chef with impressive credits on her resume: Hard Water now Popi’s. She was also a Top Chef Season 15 contender and is at the helm at Popi’s Oysterette in the Marina but as she told me; “there is much beyond oysters on the menu”. Enjoy our tasty talk here:

FOOTBALL: 49ers V Packers
