KCBS FOODIE CHAP INTERVIEW: RICH AURILIA, RED STITCH WINE
Rich Aurilia is a renaissance man, beloved for his dozen years as San Francisco Giants shortstop and since as an NBC sports commentator pre and post-games. For the last 15 years he’s been the pitcher and owner of Red Stitch Wine with partners John Micek and former Giants teammate and Dodgers Manager, Dave Roberts.
“Red Stitch is the creation of our three families Aurilia, Micek and Roberts, woven together by a shared passion and goal to experience exceptional wine with those who mean the most to us—our friends and family,” says Rich.
I caught up with the baseball star turned foodie and winery owner at his Healdsburg home. Over some award winning Red Stitch Cabernet, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir by winemaker Erich Bradly, we talked baseball, food and wine. The former San Francisco Giant has impressive cooking chops too, serving up the perfect steak with riced cauliflower and a chimichurri sauce to die for. A home run for sure.
As spring training commences this week in Scottsdale, Arizona, Rich will be there in a coaching role wearing a San Francisco Giants uniform once again.
Step up to the plate with baseball legend and self confessed foodie, Rich Aurilia. Enjoy my Foodie Chap interview here.
