A magnitude 2.5 earthquake struck near San Jose on Monday afternoon.

The earthquake's epicenter was located about five miles northeast of Alum Rock, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Officials estimated it occurred at a depth of just under four miles.
Shaking was felt in San Jose, as far west as Sunnyvale and near Livermore.
There was no immediate word of injuries or damage.
