Commuters are feeling the lingering effects of a multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning that closed three westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge.
The crash was first reported at 5:07 a.m. just past Treasure Island when a vehicle, possibly hit by a second vehicle, lost control and spun out across the bridge, California Highway Patrol told KCBS Radio.

The vehicle was then struck by a big rig 18 wheeler, crushing the front end of the car and destroying the engine.
Three lanes were blocked for over an hour as debris was removed from the bridge. Despite the intensity of the crash, only minor injuries were suffered, CHP said.
According to KPIX, investigators said the early morning collision was caused by street racing. However, CHP was unable to confirm this to KCBS Radio.
The lanes are now open to traffic.
