SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – One person was killed in a shooting near Fisherman’s Wharf Wednesday afternoon.

San Francisco police said they were told one male shot another male who was sitting inside their car – and then immediately left the area.

Police found the victim’s car a block away at Leavenworth and Beach Streets.  Inside, the victim was in the driver’s seat, unresponsive with several gunshot wounds.

Officers tried providing first aid and then paramedics tried the same.  Both efforts failed with the victim being pronounced dead at the scene.

While the first aid efforts were going on, the suspect turned himself in at the police department’s Central station and was immediately arrested.  Police did not offer the suspect’s identity.

San Francisco police said there is no immediate threat to the public and said this is an isolated incident.  Despite the arrest, the investigation continues.  No word on any charges at the moment.
