A man has been arrested after a disturbing video surfaced of a man stepping on ducks at a park.
The 41-second video of the Jan. 15 incident at the San Lorenzo Community Center Park was taken by an unidentified bystander and released to the public by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
WARNING: Video contains graphic and disturbing images of animal cruelty.
Authorities said a "concerned community member" not associated with video reported the incident to deputies on Tuesday. Investigators from the agency's crime unit discovered the suspect "frequented the duck pond and, on at least two occasions, was seen stepping on the ducks' wings, stomping on their heads, and grabbing at least one of them by its neck and slamming it to the ground," police said in their release.
Officers searched the area for the injured ducks, but could not locate them.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, has since been arrested for animal cruelty. It's unclear when the arrest was made.
He was booked into Santa Rita Jail and the case will be submitted to the District Attorney's office, according to police.
"The suspect's actions are disturbing. This type of behavior will not be tolerated by our agency," authorities added.
No other information was available.
