A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged for the alleged nighttime assault of a UC Berkeley student while she slept in her apartment.
According to Berkeleyside, the 21-year-old student was asleep in her Warring St. apartment on Sept. 27 at around 12:45 a.m. when a stranger allegedly broke in, woke her up and pointed a gun in her face, attempting to rape her.
The student tried to get away but the suspect hit her several times in the head and face with his gun, leaving her with injuries that required five stitches and eight staples to fix, the publication said. The man fled the apartment, taking cellphones, computers and other personal items.
Jordan was already facing other rape charges from a 2019 attack in Oakland, according to court papers and police.
Last week, the Alameda County District attorney's Office charged Jordan with assault with the intent to commit a sex crime, assault with a deadly weapon and home invasion burglary.
As of Tuesday, Jordan remains in custody at the Santa Rita Jail.
