A San Jose man has been booked into Santa Clara County jail for allegedly running over a woman during a dispute.
Juan Carlos Valdivia, 31, was taken into custody after engaging in a violent confrontation with a woman over a bill for a massage last Friday in Palo Alto.
Officers responded to the 3400 block of El Camino Real at 11:33 a.m. on Sept. 24 to find a woman badly injured. She was suffering multiple broken bones and was transported to a local hospital where she is now in stable condition, officials said.
An investigation into the incident identified the woman as an employee at a Palo Alto spa. Valdivia and the woman got into a heated conversation about Valdivia’s credit card receipt not reflecting the tip amount he had added, leading to a physical altercation outside. As Valdivia attempted to flee the scene, the woman fell and was run over by Valdivia’s rear wheels.
Detectives arrested Valdivia on three felonies — assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and hit-and-run causing injury.
