Berkeley police arrested a 61-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in connection with several incidents at an elementary school where he was suspected to engage in lewd acts.
Bike officers were called to Sylvia Mendez Elementary school with reports of a vehicle circling the school, according to police. The school told police that the same vehicle has circled the school before on at least 10 previous occasions.

When the police were making their way to the school the Berkeley High School resource officer notified them that he noticed the same vehicle circling. There are previous reports of the man in the car possibly performing lewd acts outside the elementary school in January, officers reported.
Officers arrived on the scene and saw the vehicle was parked on the north side of the school. They arrested the man and found a hunting knife, gloves, duct tape, and a bundle of zip ties in the car.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of 10 counts of annoying/molesting a victim under 18-years-old and on engaging in lewd conduct, police reported.
