The man was found in the last car of a BART train by a BART employee at 2:20 a.m., according to a spokesperson with the transit agency.

The discovery was made as BART car cleaners and police officers made their final check of train cars.

The man was found unresponsive with no pulse. Although there was drug paraphernalia in his possession, there were no signs of foul play.

Officers started administering medical aid and Narcan in an effort to reverse a possible overdose.

Emergency medical personnel arrived soon after and despite their efforts, the man was declared dead at 2:55 a.m.

The station was closed while personnel awaited for the coroner to arrive, and didn’t reopen until 5:05 a.m.

The official cause of death has not yet been released. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner and Coroner did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
