Authorities continue to search for a man who might have been on board his boat when it caught fire late Sunday and eventually sank at the Bethel Island marina.
East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Craig Auzenne said crews responded at about 10 p.m. Sunday to find the vessel engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but learned a man lived on the boat and his vehicle was still parked at the marina.
The boat sank around 1 a.m. Monday.
The East Bay Times reported that fire officials haven't yet determined what started the fire. Damage to the boat is estimated at $22,000.
Auzenne told KCBS Radio the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is now taking over the investigation.
