A suspect wanted for manslaughter was hospitalized on Wednesday after an officer-involved shooting in Oakland.
The Oakland Police Department has not revealed much about the shooting, which took place at the La Quinta Inn and Suites near the Oakland Airport at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

The suspect injured during the shootout with officers has been identified as David Garibay-Vargas, a 27-year-old man who was charged with manslaughter in June for allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal car accident in Oakland, Mercury News reported.
"This gentleman was wanted in connection with a criminal warrant for manslaughter," Police Chief Larone Armstrong said during a press conference. "He was not seriously injured as a result of this incident, however it is undetermined as to what he may have been injured by."
Even though an officer did shoot at Garibay-Vargas, the department does not yet know if he was actually hit by a bullet.
Armstrong said the incident is being investigated by the department’s homicide unit, internal affairs and Community Police Review Agency.
"I recognize that officer-involved shootings pose the highest risk to safety of our officers and safety of our community," said Armstrong. "I think it is in these types of actions that our community wants to see transparency."
A full report will be released once the investigation is complete, Armstrong added.
Garibay-Vargas was treated at a local hospital and then taken to the Alameda County Jail.
