The helicopters and plane were identified by the flight tracker website ADS-B Exchange as well as the Twitter account Berkeley Scanner as a Lockheed C-130 and two Black Hawk helicopters, SFGATE reported. "Most likely on a training or readiness mission," Berkeley Scanner said.

One Black Hawk helicopter crossed the San Francisco Bay while the Lockheed C-130 flew up the coastline over San Francisco, the newspaper said. Both their flight paths were recorded by ADS-B Exchange. It is believed they took off from Moffett Federal Airfield in Santa Clara County.

The aircraft were spotted by Bay Area residents, with some even taking to Twitter to document their arrival.

It's unknown if the flights were regular training exercises or drills in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
