The parents of a 19-year-old former UC Berkeley student are pleading for her safe return after she went missing over a week ago near a popular San Francisco tourist destination.
Sydney West’s parents, who didn’t identify themselves, released an emotional video Thursday asking for the public’s help in their daughter’s disappearance. West was last seen or heard from early in the morning of September 30 in the Crissy Field area near the Golden Gate Bridge.
"Syd," as her mother said she likes to be called, was reported missing last Friday and, until recently, was a student at UC Berkeley. Her father described her as "an incredibly talented musician, an athlete, an artist and is highly intelligent."
"This is every parent’s worst nightmare," her father added. "All we want is our daughter Sydney to be found safe and brought home to our family."

According to a San Francisco Police, Sydney "is considered at risk due to depression." She is described as a white female, 5'10" and weighing about 130 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a sweatshirt, dark-colored shorts and blue Vans sneakers.
West is from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department (North Carolina) is assisting in the investigation.
