Jennifer Mary Aranson, 62, of Mill Valley, was last heard from Sunday afternoon after possibly taking a walk on a Mount Tamalpais trail, the Mill Valley Police Department reported.
Aranson was found on Monday by members of the Marin County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue inside her parked car in the 200 block of S. Ridgewood Road, a residential area of Kentfield.
Aranson was pronounced dead at the scene, but authorities reported she did not have any traumatic injuries or suspicious circumstances suggesting foul play. They also ruled out the possibility that she was in a vehicle collision.
Police did find evidence that Aranson was possibly misusing nitrous oxide inhalants.
The Mill Valley woman's cause of death will be revealed after a forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing, expected to be released Tuesday.
