Police are investigating a shooting Sunday night in Oakland which left a mother and her young daughter hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Authorities said in a press release they received calls shortly before 10:30 p.m. about a shooting at the 7500 block of Sterling Dr.
Officers arrived at the scene to find a mother and daughter suffering from gunshot wounds. The East Bay Times reported that they were each in the front room of their residence when a person outside fired approximately 20 gunshots inside the home. The 40-year-old mother was struck in the torso while the 11-year-old girl in her arm, according to the outlet.
They were each transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
The front window of the victims’ home was left shattered.
An investigation is ongoing. No other information has been released.
