Police received a report on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. that the child, identified as Aitana, was taken from a residence at the 2000 block of California Street without her father's permission. Aitana's father told police that the mother, identified as 21-year-old Veronica Lara Ramirez, took the baby and did not say where she was going or who she was going with.
Witnesses said she was seen driving away from the residence with a tall, heavy-set man in her vehicle, a "newer," white compact SUV with dark-tinted windows, police said.
Authorities stated they were worried about the safety of Aitana, though they did not issue an amber alert.
Mountain View Police tweeted at 8:46 a.m. on Wednesday that Aitana, Ramirez, and the man she drove away from the residence with were all located about 10 miles from the Nevada border. Both Ramirez and the other man were arrested while Aitana was deemed "safe," by police.
No other details were released.
