California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a mystery car found at the bottom of a cliff Friday morning along Highway 1 in San Mateo County.
The car, situated upside down, was spotted at Montara State Beach.

No driver or passengers were located.
Firefighters from CAL FIRE's Santa Cruz-San Mateo Unit rappelled down the cliff to investigate, however, it’s not clear how long the vehicle was there before it was discovered or how it got there in the first place.
"We don't know when the car went off the cliff," CHP spokesperson Mark Andrews told SF Gate.

The make and model of the car were not released.
