A new, and long-delayed, LEGOLAND attraction opened its doors Monday at the Great Mall in Milpitas.
The LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Bay Area was supposed to open its doors last April but was delayed by the pandemic. Now, after a year of building anticipation, and building legos, the wait is over.
"We are the ultimate indoor LEGO playground," said James Judy, the center’s General Manager.

Visitors can not only find plenty of LEGOS, but a 4D cinema, an interactive ride, a laser maze and a Bay Area mini-land, which he deemed “the star of the show.”
“[It is] a 1.5 million LEGO brick recreation of some of the most iconic buildings and structures in the Bay Area,” Judy said. The mini Fisherman’s Wharf even comes with sea lions.

After a year stuck at home, families lined up for the center’s opening on Monday. Among them was Sarah Montoya and her two young kids, who said the day came as a big relief.
“They’re really happy,” Montoya said. “And it’s really exciting to have an indoor play space open again.”
Staff told KCBS Radio that as a continued precaution, the center will start out operating below capacity.
