Many drivers of gas-powered vehicles are getting sticker shock at the pump as fuel prices have jumped once again in the Bay Area, remaining the highest in the country.

Prices have leapt approximately six cents over the past two weeks, which means drivers in Northern California are paying an average $4.55 a gallon for regular, according to the Lundberg Survey,

"It's way too expensive and it's getting a little complicated to get to work," Alejandro Oroozco, a Bay Area driver at the Shell Station off I-880 in San Leandro, told KCBS Radio.

He said $50 only fills half a tank in his V-8 engine – a rate which is causing him to consider a move closer to his work in Concord.

Other drivers of gas powered vehicles are now driving less to cut costs.  Anthony Thomas told KCBS Radio he's thought about buying an electric vehicle if fuel prices stays high.

"I was thinking about it the other day like how they keep justifying the price of gas, it sucks, people have to travel and all this stuff," he said.

The main reason for the pain at the pump: crude oil prices continue to soar, sitting currently at $80 a barrel for the first time in seven years.
