One East Bay animal shelter is desperately trying to get its large dogs adopted by extending its hours and reducing its fees this week to just $20 an animal.
The Oakland Animal Services shelter has extended its hours on Thursday, Friday, Saturday to 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Every single kennel at the shelter is now full, something that hasn't happened since before the pandemic hit.
According to Ann Dunn, Director of Oakland Animal Services, it's not so much that people have gotten tired of their pandemic puppies, but that they can’t care for them now that they've grown larger.
The shelter has over 100 dogs to choose from that need homes.
