An illegal casino was busted in Oakland on Thursday after vigilant community members partnered with police.

Officers from the Oakland Police Department issued a search warrant on July 15 in the 1400 block on 14th Ave.

Eight firearms, including two assault rifles, 30 high capacity magazines, a bulletproof vest, $76,000 of methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and 60 bottles of promethazine were recovered from the property.

Officers also confiscated more than $21,000 in cash and 18 illegal casino gaming machines.

Chief LeRonne Armstrong said in a statement that this investigation highlights the success of community members partnering with officers.

"For more than a year our community did exactly what we’ve asked," she said. "They partnered with OPD on an issue that has plagued this community with narcotics, human trafficking, and illegal gambling."

The department encouraged their community to continue reporting illegal activity and applauded them for their work.

One person was taken into custody after the bust.

This is an ongoing investigation.
