Oakland spa reopens over week after deadly shooting

The Oakland spa where a deadly shooting occurred last week has reopened.

Kume Spa's Grand Avenue location closed temporarily on Feb. 2 immediately after a female employee allegedly fired a gun at multiple co-workers, killing one and critically wounding another, before fatally shooting herself.

In a statement emailed to customers on Thursday morning, spa owners said the businesses has reopened for normal business hours, Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"Thank you for your patience and support, we are excited to see all of you!" the owners said.

The man who was injured in the shooting while protecting his colleagues was hospitalized and woke up from a coma late last week. The spa set up a GoFundMe to help him and his family with medical bills and everyday needs. The fund surpassed its initial goal of $25,000 and has now set a new target of $40,000.
