One person injured as SF gas leak prompts evacuations

One person was injured after a gas leak was reported in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon.

The gas leak located near 5th St. and Clement St. prompted evacuations around 3:30 p.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

Residents and businesses from 6th Ave. to Arguello Blvd. were asked to shelter-in-place. Officials said that 5th Ave. from Cornwall to Geary was also closed to traffic. One person was injured but expected to survive.

No other details were provided about the person injured.

Cause of the leak was unknown Thursday afternoon.
