Pacifica woman pleads not guilty to felony dognapper charge

A woman has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge for allegedly stealing a dog from the front yard of a home in Pacifica, San Mateo County prosecutors said Friday.

Keri Livingston, 52, a Pacifica resident, is accused of stealing a purebred Yorkshire Terrier puppy named Oliver from its home on Shoreview Avenue, according to the District Attorney's Office.

In October, Livingston allegedly approached the front yard of the home, reached over the fence and snatched the $1,000 puppy. The owner later checked her surveillance footage and saw someone taking her dog.

A neighbor of the victim saw Livingston with the dog at a shopping center and asked for the dog back and Livingston refused. Police were called to handle the situation and officers later returned the dog to its owner, prosecutors said.

Livingston allegedly admitted to taking the dog and was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and a pipe, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The victim told police that she recognized Livingston, as the suspect had stopped by her house a few times before to pet the dog.

Livingston pleaded not guilty Thursday to the felony theft and drug misdemeanor charges. She was released with a court order to not contact the victim or the dog and will return to court on May 5 for a preliminary hearing.
