Person hit and killed by Caltrain at Santa Clara Station

SANTA CLARA (KCBS RADIO) – A person was hit and killed by a northbound train at the Santa Clara Station on Thursday morning, marking Caltrain's eighth fatality of 2022.

At approximately 8:06 a.m., the #705 train fatally struck someone at the station, a Caltrain spokesperson said. Trains were stopped in the area while emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

Around half an hour later, one of the tracks at the station – Main Track 3 – was reopened for restricted speed, according to a Caltrain tweet.

Main Track 1 was also reopened later in the morning.

There were approximately 104 passengers onboard the train.

No one on board was injured in the collision.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and the details of the crash have not yet been confirmed.
