Pescadero man charged for participating in Jan 6. Capitol riot

A Pescadero man is the fifth Bay Area resident to be charged by federal prosecutors for his participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Kenneth Armstrong III, 52, was arrested and charged on Thursday by the U.S. Attorney's Office District of Columbia for entering a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct and parading or demonstrating in the Capitol, Mercury News reported.

Armstrong spent a day at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, but was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond, the newspaper said. He is currently waiting for the transfer of his case to Washington, D.C.

After receiving an anonymous tip three days after the riot, the FBI visited Armstrong at his business in Half Moon Bay, where he freely admitted to entering the Capitol, the newspaper said.

According to the FBI, Armstrong sent agents of a video he took of himself walking through the Capitol building.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Armstrong faces up to a year in jail and a $100,000 fine.

KCBS Radio has reached out to the United States Attorney's Office District of Columbia and the United States Attorney's Office Northern District of California, but has not yet heard back.
