WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KCBS RADIO) - Thousands of Bay Area PG&E customers are without electricity because of strong storms that have brought down power lines and tree limbs.

In Walnut Creek, a large outage is impacting the Heather Farms neighborhood.
The power went out around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Gordon McComby got to work at the Diablo Hills Golf Course just as the power returned there at 5:08.
"We just got through having a three day -- I shouldn't say three day -- almost a three-day power outage about a week or so ago," he said. "I'm from Chicago and I can count on one hand how many times we had a power failure. Up over here, we've had numerous."
Extremely strong winds blew through the area, leaving streets covered with branches and other debris.
"The really strong winds that were associated with that line, those have moved into the Central Valley," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Brooke Bingaman.
The threat, however, isn't over yet, Bingaman warned.
"Keep in mind that we're still looking at a chance of showers and additional thunderstorms potentially developing later today," she said.
That could complicate efforts even further to restore power to those still in the dark. At one home in Heather Farms, they have some power but no heat. PG&E says it won't have power restored until a downed line can be replaced. That won’t be until Wednesday.
