"It actually looks like a giant went in there and decided to go bowling, using the nutcrackers as bowling pins," Morgan Mack Rose, executive director of San Leandro Downtown Community Benefit District told KCBS Radio.

The nonprofit has launched fundraisers on Facebook and GoFundMe to try and repair or replace the decorations hopefully before the holiday season. "They run at about $1,000 each if you can find them, and it's pretty tough to source them at this time of year," Mack Rose said.

Police sent out their evidence gathering team to conduct an investigation, but even if they do find a culprit, they won't be able to bring the nutcrackers back to life.
