The markings, a Swastika and 'Hitler' were scrawled in the area behind Binks-Rawlings Gymnasium at the school, according to a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page Wednesday.
The details of the graffiti were not released. It's not known if a person of interest has been identified yet.
"We are working with PUSD to investigate the circumstances," said the statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, we will be increasing our presence in and around all school facilities for the near future."
Concern over the vandalism has been heightened by the recent tragic shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the police said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Uvalde community and all responding to this devastating tragedy," said the post.
