Bay Area authorities weren't amused with the massive Xfinity outage, either.

But their annoyances didn't come from connectivity issues or WiFi disruption, according to sidesplitting Facebook and Twitter posts from the Marin County Sheriff's Office late Monday.

"We are aware of a large internet outage that is affecting Marin and surrounding counties," the Facebook post explained. "PLEASE do not call 911 if your internet is out. That is a call best served for your internet service provider. We can't fix the internet."

The hilarious post went on to explain its well-intentioned reasoning – an attempt to "take the load off our dispatchers" who were apparently overloaded with 911 calls concerning Xfinity internet service.

The Facebook comments took the post to a whole new level.

Several commenters said the situation would happen "only in Marin."

The widespread outage impacted Americans from coast to coast.
