PG&E said that the cause of the outages are weather-related, due to heavy fog experienced on Saturday. Dust, which had accumulated on power lines, turned into mud when exposed to the moisture, causing the non-conductive insulator protecting the electricity to become a conductive surface.

Repair crews are working to safely and quickly restore power to all areas, however, they estimate that some customers may not have power until 10 p.m. tonight.

Live updates on the power outages can be found on the PG&E website.
