Investigators are looking into a handbag robbery that took place at a Neiman Marcus store in San Francisco Monday evening.
According to reporting by KTVU, the robbery occurred around 5:49 p.m. at the high-end department store located in Union Square, said police.
By the time officers arrived at the scene the suspects had fled.
The incident happened just before the store was about to close, according to witnesses. The suspects smashed display cases and snatched items from racks before fleeing.
Cell phone video of the event shows the suspects running out of the store together with purses in their arms and getting into awaiting getaway cars.
Witnesses reports have the suspect tally at about nine people, both men and women.
Neiman Marcus has not yet responded for comment yet about what happened.
This robbery is yet another in a recent spate of retail crime in the city.
Just last week, Target announced six San Francisco stores will be limiting store hours as a result of too many shoplifters: Stores will now close at 6 p.m instead of 10 p.m.
