The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for wildfire risk in the North Bay and East Bay.

The warning will come into effect at 11 p.m. on Sunday and will last until 8 p.m. Monday, officials said, cautioning residents that any new fires will likely show "moderate to rapid growth."

The North Bay Mountains, East Bay Hills and the East Bay Valleys should prepare for 10 to 20 mph winds with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Winds are expected to be most powerful after midnight.

NWS estimates that humidity in the area will drop once winds arrive, providing extremely dry conditions ideal for a wildfire.
