In Redwood City on Sunday, many gathered to call for an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and some called out the United States government for not doing more to intervene, and are hoping NATO will enact a No-Fly-Zone in the area.

The event was comprised of Ukrainain Americans, faith leaders, volunteer organizations and young students.
Songs of defiance were sung and many got up to share their experiences and their feelings on the situation.
"We're going to stand up with our Ukrainian friends," said San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa, who helped organize the event.
In the Bay Area alone, there are around 10,000 Ukrainian residents.

The shows of solidarity are important to those directly involved in the conflict. "It shows to the people in Ukraine that there’s support, not only on the federal level but also on the local," said Dmytro Kushneruk, Consul General of Ukraine to San Francisco.
According to Kushneruk, they've gotten some 2,500 calls from Californians offering support.
Rather than picking up arms, the best way people can help the most is by donating to nonprofits providing humanitarian aid to the frontline, like medicine and food.
