SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Last week some remains were discovered in Amador County that have been identified as 24-year-old Oakley resident, Alexis Gabe.
For more, stream KCBS Radio now.
Gabe went missing in January after visiting the Antioch home of her boyfriend, Marshall Jones. Police believe that Jones killed Gabe.
He was fatally shot by police in June when there was an attempt to serve him with an arrest warrant outside a home in Kent, Washington.
Jones had charged officers with a knife when he was shot.
Now, after 10 months of searching, multiple departments held a press conference on Monday to announce the discovery of Gabe’s remains last week.
Investigators from the Antioch Police Department, the Oakley Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office all offered their condolences to Gabe’s family in the conference.
Over 20 agencies have been involved in the case.
Gabe's family wore black, and some had t-shirts emblazoned with the words "justice for Alexis."
"I'm not sure there will ever be closure for our family in terms of the loss of Alexis," said her father, Gwyn Gabe.
Her family still wants more answers as to what happened. They believe that Marshall likely had help – and hope for a continued pursuit for justice.
"We're not really done yet, the case is not over," said Gabe.
