A nasty surprise awaited more than 10 homes and an elementary school in a Sacramento County suburb earlier this week.
Plastic bags filled with rice and leaflets inscribed with a swastika and the phrase "Aryan Nation" were left on doorsteps and a playground, according to reporting by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office communications center received several calls from residents in Carmichael on Tuesday reporting the bags.
Authorities located each one at homes on California Avenue and Palm Avenue. According to the Chronicle, sheriffs are treating the case as an intimidation probe.
Deputies interviewed neighbors and residents throughout the neighborhood and obtained video footage for the investigation.
There was no information about a possible suspect as of Wednesday.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact the sheriff’s office at 916-874-8477, the sheriff’s communication center at 916-874-5115, or fill out an online tip form. Callers may remain anonymous, authorities said.
